Two Valleys – Two Centennials
Both the New Castle Lodge of Perfection at New Castle, PA and the Venango Lodge of Perfection in Oil City, PA marked their 100th anniversaries in November.
While attending the anniversary celebrations, SGC John Wm. McNaughton toured the Drake Well Park in Titusville, site of the first oil well. The well was drilled in 1859 by Brother and Col. Edwin L. Drake.
In the photo, Grand Commander McNaughton is standing in front of a Reid engine, manufactured in Oil City in the early 1900s and used for powering the pumps that moved the oil from the wells to the refinery.
